Let the Prepping Begin

PictureFlexible Scope used for Endoscopy
As most college student are prepping for their test or lab tomorrow, I am sitting on my couch drinking gatorade mixed with Miralax prepping for my endoscopy/colonoscopy tomorrow.   I don't know if you've every had a colonscopy, but before you can have one, you have to be completely cleared out, which means you spend the night before pooping your brains out.    I've had more then my fair share of scopes done in my lifetime and with each scope comes a different prep kit, but most of them make me really sick, so this time, I've created my own preparation.
First I took, 4 ducolax tablets to start me off, which was about 7 pm.  Then starting at about 8:30, I started drinking my gatorade mixed with Miralax.   For each 32 oz of gatorade I have about 7 servings of Miralax mixed in, so I give it about half an hour before I start making my frequent trips to the bathroom.
If I'm not cleared out by morning, then I'll prep some more, but I'm hoping that's not the case, and I'll be completely cleared out before going to bed tonight.   I have trouble staying hydrated on a normal day, so I'm guessing all this pooping is probably going to cause me to get even more dehydrated...yippeee.    Good news is that tomorrow at the scope they can give me fluids if I need them...which I will, but typically they listen to me when I say stuff like that.
So tomorrow will hopefully tell me what is causing my symptoms and provide some answers.  Which means that I can't really complain about having to prep, but it would have been nice to know I was having the scope sometime before 2:30 pm this afternoon, but I guess you learn to deal with spontaneous emergency scopes when you've had Crohns disease for as long as I have.   Things like scopes have become pretty normal and expected in my not so normal life.

I've got 8 scars and am missing two feet of intestines and my life isn't normal, but whose life is normal?  I want to use my experiences to help you, even if it means sharing embarrassing experiences. I am also looking to break the stigmas associated with IBD in order to make living with IBD just a little bit easier. Hope you enjoy!
